Welcome to A1 Skate Ramps, based in Colchester, Essex, we are a 100% skateboarder owned and run company. We have over 20 years of skateboarding and ramp construction experience ensuring we know how to build the most rock solid and durable ramps in the market!

Our aim is to create affordable bespoke skate ramps designed to be tough enough to withstand the hardest riding conditions. We use only the highest quality materials available, chosen for their suitability to the UK weather climate. Our professional craftsmen engineer all our ramps with strength in mind, so you can be sure your ramp will be durable enough for years of use.

We don’t just build the ramps we actually skate them too. Over the years we’ve gotten to know what makes a good half pipe and we have taken that knowledge and developed a system that ensures you get a quality ramp that you’ll love and want to ride every day.

Careful workmanship

Careful workmanship and attention to detail goes into everything we build. We don’t cut corners with materials or compromise on build quality to save money. All our ramps are handcrafted at our premises and to ensure that everything fits perfectly before arriving at your door! Everything except half pipes arrive ready to skate!

Assembly of our ramps is straightforward; an electric drill is all you need to put it all together and instructions are included. Not that handy with DIY? Our professional ramp builders can install it for you, we can even take care of landscaping if you don’t have a flat level space. Ramp Structure

For the ramp structure we use treated timber from well managed Scandinavian forests, compliant to the highest environmental standards. The drying and treatment process protects against rot and decay which makes it suitable for exterior use in wet climates. All ramp structures are guaranteed for 5 years and with proper care can easily last much longer.

Every ramp is surfaced using the highest quality FSC compliant BB ‘Furniture Grade’ Baltic Birch plywood as standard. The cold climate and slow growing of the trees ensures tight growth rings that gives the ramp superior stability and a premium finish. Constructed using solid birch veneers throughout bonded together with waterproof phenol glues, it’s incredibly strong and hard wearing with a bright and clean appearance which looks great and performs superbly as a skate surface. Birch ply is much more dense than regular exterior plywood and gives our ramps a rock-solid riding feel with a smoothness and ride quality that makes it the professionals’ choice in riding surface every time!

Proper Ventilation

Proper ventilation is essential for ramps that are going to be situated permanently outdoors and our products are built with this in mind. Side panels have vents to allow for air to circulate around the underneath of the ramp so when it gets wet it can properly dry out. We design our ramps to suit the damp and cold UK climate and can make recommendations on how to maintain your skate ramp and keep it rideable for many years to come.

Self-build halfpipes

Our self-build halfpipes and skate ramps are designed with ease of installation in mind.

Fully illustrated step by step instructions are included with every half pipe and quarter pipe kit and phone help is available, should you need further assistance with the build. All the parts are colour coded and numbered so it couldn’t be easier to put together. The frame and panels come pre-drilled and countersunk so all the screws sit flush with the surface. The only tool you’ll need to fit it all together is a cordless drill.
